What is the record for how fast someone can click?

Everyone is familiar with the phenomenon known as clicking - the rapid tapping of a computer mouse that produces a recognizable sound associated with its use. But what is the record for how fast someone can click?

According to Guinness World Records, the fastest mouse-clicking speed ever attained was 5.11 clicks per second (CPS), which was achieved by Canadian gamer, Dylan Allred in November 2020. Allred brought together three days of practice and hand-speed training to break the world record in an official Guinness attempt at the GamerzArena Faceoff 2020 event - a competition of skill and accuracy in gaming.

Not surprisingly, Allred is also a professional gamer and streamer under the moniker 'i_o_loser', who specialises in first-person shooter games like Valorent and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. He has competed at various events such as DreamHack Montreal 2019, EGLX Toronto 2020, and Nine To Five 6 Finals 2021 - all held over the past few years.

Allred's incredible 5 CPS mouse-clicking speed isn't just impressive; it's astonishingly powerful when you consider that an ordinary mouse only has three buttons: Left, Right and Middle (also known as Wheel). This shows how important proper hand posture is when it comes to playing on PC or Mac and how important regular practice can be for any aspiring professional gamer.

When setting up for his attempt at GamerzArena Faceoff 2020 Allred had tested his clicking speed anywhere between 3 CPS and 5 CPS depending on external factors such as surface or mouse type but eventually settled on 5 CPS being his standout performance. Having already held several records at that point Dylan wasn't likely to let this record go and ultimately squeezed out 0.04 seconds from what was previously attainable - outhustling some of gaming's most highly ranked contenders in pursuit of this monumental goal .
